Couple Charged With Animal Cruelty

State Police arrested Robert L. Williams, 33, and Candice L. Carey, 36, on animal cruelty charges.

Williams and Carey are accused of depriving 2 Pitbull dogs with necessary sustenance, food or drink.

On August 30, State Troopers responded to 216 Great Bear Road in the town of Schroeppel regarding 2 dogs tied to a shed.

When Troopers arrived, they discovered a male Pitbull deceased within the shed.

The dog was tied up by rope which was wrapped around a pole.

A female Pitbull was found tied by a lead to a pole and was severely malnourished.

The shed is located behind the residence which is empty.

The Town of Schroeppel Animal Control Officer responded to the scene and removed both dogs.

On September 27, State Police arrested Williams and Carey, both from Marietta, NY, for 2 counts New York Agriculture and Markets Law § 353 Overdriving, torturing and injuring animals; failure to provide proper sustenance (Class “A” misdemeanor).

They were both issued an appearance ticket and are scheduled to appear in Town of Schroeppel Court on October 11 at 5:30 p.m.
