Downtown Parking Restrictions Announced

OSWEGO, NY – Effective Dec. 1, through March 31, 2011, the following regulations will be in effect:

There will be NO PARKING in the specified downtown parking Lots from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. (any day of the week) without a parking permit.

This regulation is not dependent upon the City-Wide Winter Parking Ban which will go into effect upon the declaration of Mayor Randolph Bateman when weather necessitates.

The parking lots specified in the above regulation are as follows:

Lot (A) Water Street south of West Bridge Street
Lot (A1) Water Street south of West Oneida Street
Lot (B) West Cayuga Street at West First Street
Lot (B1) West Cayuga Street at West Second Street
Lot (C) Water Street north of West Bridge Street
Lot (C1) east end of West Seneca Street (Veteran’s Memorial Lot)
Lot (D) upper level of Midtown Plaza
Lot (D1) lower level of Midtown Plaza
Lot (E) East First Street (in front of board of education building)
Lot (F) East First Street at East Oneida Street (library lower lot)
Lot (F1) East Second Street at East Oneida Street (library upper lot)

Temporary overnight parking will be available by permit only in the following two lots (signage will be in place to indicate the permit parking areas):

West Cayuga Street at West First Street lot (west row)
Lower level Midtown Plaza Lot. (south row)

The temporary overnight permits will be available at the Oswego Police Department’s front desk on a 24-hour basis at a fee of $5 per space, per night.

The temporary parking permit will allow parking in the designated areas from 9 p.m. until 9 a.m. the next day.

Oswego Police will begin issuing courtesy citations for violations that occur during the first several nights that the regulation goes into effect.
