City police have identified the elderly couple found dead in their home Monday night.
The following is the department’s press release regarding the investigation:
On Monday, Nov. 10, 2009, at approximately 6:42 p.m., Oswego Police responded to 207 E. Seventh St., Oswego to check on the welfare of an elderly couple that resided at that address.
Upon entry to the residence, police discovered the bodies of an elderly male and female.
The identities of the couple have been determined to be, 89-year-old Richard Hyse and his wife, 86-year-old Josephine Hyse.
Oswego Police are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
According to Oswego Police Chief Michael J. Dehm Jr., “In accordance with our standard operating procedures, we treat each unattended death as if it were suspicious until we are able to determine otherwise.â€Â

OSWEGO, NY –The death of an east side Oswego couple is being investigated as “suspicious.”
The elderly couple was discovered shortly after 6:40 p.m. Monday in their East Seventh Street residence. City police had received a “check the welfare” call regarding the man and woman.
Police aren’t releasing the names of the victims.
“Our investigation is still in the early stages,” said Capt. Tory Decaire. “It’s standard to treat something like this as suspicious until determined otherwise.”
