OSWEGO, NY – A former police officer for the village of Pulaski pleaded guilty Friday to leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
Lee B. Walker III, 24, had also been charged with official misconduct, a class-A misdemeanor, because he was a police officer at the time of the incident.
If Walker completes 150 hours of community service, the misdemeanor charge will be adjourned in contemplation of dismissal, according to Oswego County Assistant District Attorney Mark Moody.
Walker has already completed 40 hours of community service, Moody added.
His father, Lee B. Walker Jr., 46, was also charged in connection with the same incident.
It is alleged that early on the morning of March 24, Walker Jr. assisted his son in leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident at West Seventh and Schuyler streets.
The younger Walker struck two legally parked vehicles and left the scene without exchanging the proper information with the owners of the damaged vehicles.
The elder Walker, a county legislator, was charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration, a class A misdemeanor.
Following an investigation, the Walkers turned themselves into city police in early April.
Walker Jr., will return to Oswego City Court on Sept 25.
The maximum sentence he could face for the misdemeanor is a year in jail.
