Hannibal Woman Faces DWI

OSWEGO TOWN, NY – A Hannibal woman is facing a drunk driving charge after driving into a house early Sunday morning, breaking both a gas main and a utility pole.

The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office reports that Kristen M. Carroll, 21, of 242 Durbin Road, Hannibal, was operating a 2000 Chevrolet suburban westbound on state Route 104 in the town of Oswego at 1:31 a.m. when she lost control of her vehicle at Jackim Road.

Carroll’s vehicle left the roadway on the south shoulder, struck a house at 7271 state Route 104 and broke the natural gas main, before striking a utility pole and breaking it in half. Police said the vehicle then came to rest against a group of trees.

Oswego County Sheriff Reuel Todd said this morning that he did not know if there were people in the home at the time of the accident.

An Oswego County E-911 spokesperson said that National Grid was notified at 1:41 a.m. The Oswego Town Rescue Unit and Oswego City Ambulance were also called to respond. Rescue cleared the scene at approximately 4 a.m.

Carroll, the sole occupant, was transported by ambulance to Oswego Hospital.

“She had some injuries but they were very minor,” Todd said.

Carroll was ticketed for driving while intoxicated and failure to keep right. Todd noted that the incident remains under investigation at this time and additional charges are possible. missing or outdated ad config
