OSWEGO – Paoletti Engineering PLLC has won a contract for electrical upgrades on the International Pier Improvement Project in Oswego, the bid unanimously approved by the Oswego Common Council during last night’s February 28 meeting.
The $9.5 million International Pier Project is funded by former Governor Cuomo’s Lake Ontario Resiliency and Economic Development Initiative (REDI), the monies granted to the city of Oswego for lakeshore reconstruction and improvement.
The upgraded enhancements will protect the formerly deteriorating pier, while giving pedestrians and boaters an additional dynamic, open-spaced waterfront area for the public to utilize.
Oswego City Engineer Jeffrey Hinderliter spoke during last week’s committee meeting, mentioning the city formally working with Paoletti Engineering PLLC on electrical upgrades for the High Dam Water Project.
“We have a need for an electrical engineer on the pier to lay out new lighting; the electrical for the docks [and to] set up a new switch gear – some actual engineering needs,” Hinderliter said. “Because we have retained him for other projects, I reached out to him for a proposal. He can deliver it in a short timeline, so that’s great for us.”
The project’s cost comes in at $25,980.
Another item passed during last night’s meeting included a request from Representative Brittany Rogers from the St. Lawrence – Eastern Lake Ontario Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (SLELO PRISM).
SLELO PRISM is requesting a Boat Launch Steward/Educator at Wrights Landing Marina for the 2022 summer season. The Launch Steward/Educator is a recurring request put before the council each year, the item unanimously approved.
According to the SLELO PRISM website, the SLELO PRISM partnership was formed in 2011 in order to combat the spread of invasive water species, while mitigating associated threats in the St. Lawrence Seaway/Lake Ontario waters.
