OSWEGO, NY – Lee Walker Jr., of 131 W. Albany St., has announced his candidacy for Oswego County Legislator, 15th District.
No stranger to Oswego’s political scene, Walker Jr. previously served as Fifth Ward representative from 1993 to 1995 and 15th District legislator from 2008 to 2009.

“I was born and raised in Oswego and live in a home that’s been in my family for more than 100 years. I have a passion for serving this community and doing whatever I can to continue to make Oswego a great place to live, work and raise a family,” said Walker. “I envision an Oswego with a strong economy, healthy communities and a high quality of life for its residents.”
Walker stated that one of his top priorities as legislator is to establish a smaller, more streamlined approach to government.
“Developing a shared system that consolidates services would not only benefit the city and county, it would save taxpayers money as well,” said Walker. “I would also like to create a more business friendly climate in Oswego County. It can potentially serve as a catalyst to foster entrepreneurship and encourage businesses to come to Oswego and help create the jobs we need.”
A strong supporter of the community, Walker has served as a member of the Oswego Public Library Board of Directors, the Advisory Board for the Salvation Army of Oswego County, and the Oswego County Traffic Safety Board.
A proponent for youth activities, Walker sponsors the “Christmas In July” night for children at the Oswego Speedway and is sponsoring the free movie night in the park featuring the movie “The Baby Boss” on August 21 in Oswego’s Franklin Square Park beginning at dusk.
“I enjoyed my childhood in Oswego and I enjoyed watching my children grow up here as well. Investing in our youth is investing in our future. If I am elected I will be donating 100% of my salary as a legislator to youth activities in Oswego,” said Walker. “I’m thankful for the opportunity to run for legislator of Oswego County’s 15th District and look forward to serving its residents as well as all of Oswego County.”
