Man Struck and Killed by Train in Liverpool

SALINA, New York – The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian and a CSX train that occurred near Vine Street and Commerce Boulevard in Liverpool this (June 17) afternoon.

At approximately 1:07 p.m., sheriff’s deputies along with rescue personnel from the Liverpool Fire Department and AMR ambulance responded to the area of Vine Street and Commerce Boulevard after receiving a 911 call reporting that a man had been struck by a train.

Deputies are actively reviewing the facts and circumstance surrounding the incident, but say that the train was traveling northbound on the tracks prior to the collision and the victim who was on the tracks, is a man who appears in his 50s.

The Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Team along with CSX Police, continue to investigate the collision.

The name of the victim is being withheld at this time pending family notifications.
