No Injuries Reported In College Construction Mishap

OSWEGO, NY – A minor construction accident occurred this morning (Sept. 23) at SUNY Oswego.

Shortly before 11:45 a.m. a drill rigger, working where a new science building is being constructed, tipped over.

It was on soft, wet ground when it fell.

There were no injuries, according to college spokesperson Julie Blissert.

The construction site is located between Piez Hall and Snygg Hall.

Some diesel fuel spilled. After about 5 minutes, the fumes forced the evacuation of Snygg Hall.

After about a half hour, students were allowed to return to their classrooms at around 12:20 p.m., Blissert noted.

Drilling is being done as part of the geothermal heating system, which will be used in the new building.

The rigger is reportedly owned by a subcontractor, Hayward Baker of Weedsport. missing or outdated ad config
