City Police have released the following update regarding Thursday’s bomb threat at Oswego Middle School:
On May 12, 2016, the Oswego City Police Department assisted the Oswego City School District in their handling of a bomb threat which caused the evacuation of students at Oswego Middle School.
Members of the Oswego City Police Department, working in conjunction with the Oswego City School District, have identified a juvenile suspect.
The suspect is a female student of Oswego Middle School.
The suspect, being a juvenile, will be dealt with in Family Court for a crime which, if committed by an adult, would amount to “Falsely Reporting an Incident in the First Degree” (A Class-D Felony).
Oswego Police and School Officials are still investigating the origin of a bomb threat made at Oswego High School on May 11, 2016.

PREVIOUS UPDATE:
As of 5/12/16 at 12:08 p.m., law enforcement personnel completed searching Oswego Middle School.
Students have since returned to their classes.
The Oswego City Police Department is currently working in coordination with school personnel to investigate who is responsible for leaving the threat.

OSWEGO – At 9:40 a.m. today (May 12), a hand written note indicating a bomb threat was located by school employees at Oswego Middle School.
The decision to evacuate the school was made all students and staff have been evacuated and are safe.
Law Enforcement is currently searching the school.
It is anticipated students will be returning to classes shortly.
Further information will be releases as it is received.
The investigation is being conducted by The Oswego City Police Dept., and Oswego City School District, with assistance from New York State Police, and the Oswego Fire Department.
Parents wishing to pick up their child can do so at the church adjacent to the Middle School. Identification will be required to get your child.
