Oswego Assistant Superintendent Leaving The School District

OSWEGO, NY – At its meeting Tuesday night, the Oswego City School District Board of Education said goodbye to veteran board member and current board president Dave White.

They also accepted the resignation of Peter Colucci, the assistant superintendent for business.

Colucci will leave next month to take a position with a nearby BOCES.

Superintendent Bill Crist said he will get together with the board to plan to fill the position.

The board of the Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES appointed Colucci as the associate superintendent for management regional services and finance at its meeting last Thursday.

“This is a great community. I live in the community. Being here has been a wonderful opportunity,” Colucci said he’s looking forward to the opportunity to have a regional presence and use his talents with nine other districts, especially rural districts.

“It will be more fulfilling to help nine districts instead of just one,” he said. “I’ll be doing a lot of what I’m doing now, just on a regional scale. I will be helping all of the districts; helping to provide whatever services they might need for all of their students.”

The whole idea of BOCES is to cooperate in a way where you can provide services to the districts and programs to the kids in a way that meets the local requirement, but is more cost-effective and efficient, Colucci explained.

Providing programs and services at a centralized level can be more cost effect and efficient and help the students get what they need without placing the burden solely on an individual district, he added.

“In a lot of ways what it does is shares the expenses, shares the resource among multiple districts and multiple students,” he said.

He intends to remain in Oswego. His son attends Minetto Elementary and is involved in local sports.

“I’m a member of the community. I’m not leaving the community,” he said. “I’m committed to the youth of this community.”

White will kick off his campaign for mayor with an event at 5 p.m. June 23 at the Oswego Republican Headquarters, 102 W. Utica St.

Members of the public are invited to hear White speak briefly about his campaign plans and to talk about why he is the right person to be the next mayor of Oswego.

A complimentary appetizer reception will immediately follow at Canale’s Restaurant. missing or outdated ad config

  1. Fortunately I live in the TOWN of Oswego so as a town resident I am happy to say goodbye to Dave White and fortunate that I will not have him as my mayor. Good luck to the city residents with this one.

  2. Why do we need to fill this position? Isn’t it possible to eliminate it? How about the superintendent just do the job he was hired to do…. Without assistance
