Oswego Council To Consider HEART Request

OSWEGO, NY – The Administrative Services Committee gave a favorable recommendation to helping HEART of Oswego County.

Michael Smith, DPW commissioner, received a correspondence from Shelby Stepien, a representative of HEART.

He told the committee that the group wants to hold a large yard sale at the pavilion at Breitbeck Park on Aug. 26. The event would likely be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Stepien recently started HEART to help raise money for and bring awareness to animal rescue and other causes in the Oswego County area.

HEART is not at all affiliated with Paws Across Oswego County.

“100% of the funds raised from the event will go directly to Paws Across Oswego County, a local non-profit animal rescue group”, Stepien said. “Being a 501C3, Paws Across Oswego County is very dependent upon donations and fundraisers.”

“They help find great homes for stray, abused and abandoned companion animals. They see to it that they get medical attention, are groomed, spayed/neutered, fed, socialized, boarded or fostered until permanent homes can be found. Being an animal lover myself, I just can’t say enough good things about them.” Stepien said.

People are contributing all kinds of items to sell at the event. She also hopes to receive donations of snacks and drinks to sell, she added.

If you would like to donate any items, please contact Stepien at 315-529-8577.

The full council will vote on the resolution at its June 25 meeting.
