OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego Fire Dept responded to a natural gas Leak at the intersection of East First and Oneida streets 10:42 a.m. Monday (Sept. 14).
A construction worker working with heavy equipment struck the 4-inch high-pressure gas line, causing the release of natural gas.
National Grid responded and put a temporary fix on the problem in about 20 minutes, until a permanent fix was done a short time after.
One office nearby was evacuated as a precaution. The library was also reportedly closed due to the leak.
East First Street was closed down between Bridge and Oneida streets until the repair was completed.
Fire department units were back in service at 11:50 a.m.
