OSWEGO, NY – On Monday, at approximately 11:10 p.m., Oswego Police investigated a report of a robbery that had just occurred in the area of Tallman Street at Murray Street in the city of Oswego.
Officers conducting the investigation determined that a 19-year-old man was walking in the area of the alleged incident when one or more suspects approached the victim and forcibly stole personal property from him.
During the robbery, the victim was allegedly punched and kicked and threatened with the use of a knife.
The victim, who suffered physical injuries including abrasions and a laceration to the head, was treated and later released from Oswego Hospital.
At approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday, members of the Oswego Police Department executed a search warrant at 14 Murray St. in connection with the robbery investigation.
Police located several individuals in the residence and recovered property that was reportedly stolen during the robbery.
Following an investigation, one suspect, 21- year- old Matthew D. Moody of 237 E. Second St., Oswego, was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree robbery (a Class B felony).
Moody was later arraigned in Oswego City Court by the Judge James Metcalf and was remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash / $20,000 bond.
Moody has a return court date in Oswego City Court of Dec. 15.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
According to Police Chief Michael J. Dehm Jr., “Although we have arrested one suspect, the investigation into the robbery incident is still under way. Our officers and investigators have devoted numerous man-hours in tracking down the individuals who were either responsible for the crime or had information related to the crime. Our efforts will remain diligent until we determine that all of the involved suspects have been identified and all appropriate charges have been filed.â€Â
