Oswego Man Charged With Manslaughter

RICHLAND, NY – An Oswego man is behind bars Sunday, charged with manslaughter.

At 1:46 a.m. Sunday, the Oswego County 911 center received a call regarding an unresponsive male at Lot #25 Pine Grove Road in the town of Richland.

Police and Northern Oswego County Ambulance personnel responded to the scene and reportedly found Robert S. King, 36, of 5 Kimberly Lane Apt #326, Mexico, unconscious.

He was transported to Oswego Hospital where he was pronounced deceased, according to police.

The investigation has determined that King was allegedly assaulted by Michael J. Fredette, 44, of 427 Nine Mile Point Road, Oswego, following a verbal dispute.

Fredette has been charged with first-degree manslaughter.

He was arraigned before Town Justice James Ridgeway, in the Town of Richland Court.

Fredette was committed to Oswego County Jail in lieu of $5,000/$10,000 bail/bond and is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Richland Court on Aug. 11.

  1. I think this is really sad that best friends for years would get in a fight and one of them end up dead!! Over one of their wives? WOW, I bet she feels great right now! Just goes to show that somethings are not worth fighting over!!! R.I.P. Mr. King….

  2. This man found his wife and the deceased in the bathroom with their pants down…… while he and the deceased wife was downstairs…..
    I don’t believe he should have killed him by any means… but I can understand his outrage and how he could have lost of his mind at the time….

  3. Whoosh & Wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!! A terrrible tragedy -this situation illustrates what happens when folks anger gets out of control. Prayers for both families.

  4. this was a very sad thing that has happened. Anger is not a good thing at all. I am sure Mike is feelilng a big lose and will live with what happened the rest of his life. My heart and Prayers go out to both families.
