Oswego Man Facing Assault, Burglary Charges

OSWEGO, NY – On Sunday, at about 8:49 a.m., an adult female victim reported to Oswego Police that at about 3 that morning she had been assaulted by an adult male subject, with whom the victim had a prior relationship, and during the assault was unlawfully restrained.

Officers investigating the incident determined that the male subject, 21-year-old Michael J. Burger of 80 Sixth Ave. allegedly unlawfully entered an Oswego residence of a third party and, while remaining inside, did unlawfully restrain the female.

The altercation later continued at Burger’s residence where it is alleged that the male further unlawfully restrained the female and struck the victim multiple times with an unknown object causing bruises, swelling and substantial pain.

Burger was arrested by Oswego Police on Sept. 5 at about 7:32 p.m.

On Monday, Burger was arraigned in Oswego City Court on the following charges:

  • Unlawful Imprisonment 1st (Class E-Felony)
  • Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd (class A-Misdemeanor)
  • Assault 2nd (Class D-Felony)
  • Burglary 2nd (Class C-Felony)
  • Harassment 2nd (Violation)

Upon arraignment, Burger was remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 bail / $20,000 bond.
