OSWEGO, NY – Rockford, a pit bull puppy, is on the mend at Fruit Valley Vet Clinic in Oswego.

The dog’s previous owners brought their vehicle to Absolute Auto and Audio in Fulton for work.

Employees there noticed something wrong with the puppy and notified police.

Rockford’s jaw is reportedly completely severed; and is being held on only by tissue and skin. The animal is also malnourished.

The previous owners voluntarily surrendered the dog.

However, since they live in of Syracuse, the case will be handled there.

If Rockford’s jaw doesn’t heal, he will require surgery that could cost around $5,000.

Anyone wishing to contribute to Rockford’s recovery may do so at Fruit Valley Vet Clinic, 7100 Route 104, Oswego.

A woman who answered the phone today at the clinic said the dog is doing fine but would give no other information. missing or outdated ad config

  6. My heart goes out to BOTH Pits that were injured this week (and we heard of it in the media) this week. We foster and own many animals ourselves, and we know this abuse goes on because our dog has been ‘recovering’ psychologically over the years we’ve had him (he’s still very fearful of other people and other dogs).

We grieve for these animals, but we must know this is human nature at its worst. We continue to do this to people, too. Ironically, the media covers the animals more faithfully than they do the people. And I am glad they do cover the animals, of course. But what about landmines in the middle east (children), what about Somalia, and even continued Jim Crow here in the states?

  7. Rockford is now safe and his abuser will get a stiff fine when he should be given the same courtesy he gave to Rockford!!! I wish I had the space and my oldest son wasn’t a pest when it comes to dogs because I’d take him in a heart beat!
