Scouts salute as they march in the 2016 parade. This year's parade is set for July 2.
OSWEGO, NY – The 4th of July holiday is fast approaching. Plans for this year’s annual Independence Day Parade are under way.
With a theme of “Oswego’s Past, Present, and Future” there are plans of highlighting all of the things we love about the Oswego community.

Oswego will hold its annual Independence Day Celebration this year on Sunday, July 2, with floats, classic cars, marching bands and entertainment traveling across the city to commemorate the nation’s founding.
Families will crowd Bridge Street on both sides of the river to enjoy the annual Independence Day Parade starting at 1 p.m.
“The city of Oswego is proud to organize and host the annual Fourth of July Independence Day Parade. Celebrating our country on the Fourth of July with a parade and fireworks has long been a part of our city’s timeless tradition. We are truly excited to bring you a parade that Oswego residents will remember proudly,” said Mayor William J. Barlow, Jr.
New this year, the city will be offering cash prizes for float entries with a large focus on youth participants.
Cash prizes will include: Best Float $500, Best Theme $250, Best Youth Performance Group $250, Best Adult Performance Group $250 and Youth Team Spirit Award $250.
Parade applications can be found on the city of Oswego’s Website.
