School Board Extends Superintendent’s Contract

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego Superintendent of Schools had his contract extended by one year Tuesday night.

The board of education voted 5 – 2 to approve the measure.

Kathy Allen and Sam Tripp voted no. Neither commented as to why following the meeting.

Board president Dave White, vice president John Dunsmoor, members Tom DeCastro, Jim Tschudy and Fran Hoefer voted in favor of the extension.

The school board appointed Bill Crist as superintendent on Nov. 9, 2008, for a term ending June 30, 2012.

According to the Tuesday’s resolution, the board of education has completed its evaluation of the superintendent and “duly considered an extended term of employment and the terms and conditions of a successor employment agreement.”

The new pact runs through June 30, 2013.

The president of the board was authorized to execute the employment agreement setting forth the terms and conditions.

In other action, the board accepted several resignations for the purpose of retirement.

The list of retirements includes:

Paula Ranous, a science teacher; Cindy Lou Murabito and Joann Flint, elementary teachers; Thomas Gibbons, an elementary and special education teacher; Ted Nalle and Christian King, social studies teachers; James McCaul, a physical education teacher; and William Kszystyniak, an English teacher.

  1. I sure hope there is no pay raise included in the contract extension. Taxpayers cannot afford it.
