Two Teens Charged In Connection With Robbery

OSWEGO, NY – Two teens are in custody, charged in connection with an early morning robbery.

At approximately 12:05 a.m. today (April 26), Oswego Police responded to West Seneca Street at West Second Street for a reported robbery that had just occurred.

Upon arrival and investigation, it was determined that a 24-year-old man had reportedly been approached by two suspects and was then allegedly struck in the head with a blunt object.

During the attack, it is alleged that the two suspects stole an unspecified amount of money from the victim then fled the scene on foot.

The victim suffered minor head injuries, but refused medical treatment at the scene.

Additional responding officers were able to locate one of the fleeing suspects in the area and, after a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was subsequently taken into custody.

Through investigation, the second suspect was identified and later taken into custody.

The suspects were both boys, ages 15 and 13.

The juveniles were subsequently released to a parent/guardian and are being processed through the juvenile justice system on a charge which, if committed by an adult, would constitute second-degree robbery (Class C felony).

“From the initial information that we have received, this appears to be an isolated incident, where the victim was targeted at random,” said Mike Dehm, police chief. “There is no indication that the victim knew either of the suspects or that this was drug related. I would like to credit our officers with another job well done in the quick apprehension of both of the alleged suspects.”
