FAIR HAVEN, NY – It’s not every day you see a child go into business for themselves, so when a 14-year-old presents a business opportunity; motivated and driven to bring tourism to the community; as parents, you do all that you can to support their passion.

Born into a family of entrepreneurs, Madison Leszczynski has seen firsthand what a dream, a few dollars, and support from a family can do. After visiting her grandmother one weekend in 2020, she discovered water bikes and her drive and passion for business kicked in as she began pitching the idea to her parents in hopes of bringing them to Fair Haven.

After a full summer of testing, planning, and building relationships in the business community, Leszczynski now has a fleet of water bikes available for not only the locals but those inspired to visit the Bay she calls home.

Leszczynski, an 8th-grade student at Red Creek Middle School, is currently operating Fair Haven Water Bikes part-time until school lets out for the summer. From there she’ll be accepting daily rentals as bookings are available through www.fh-rentals.com and are available in 90-minute sessions, half-day or full-day rentals.

As part of her business model, Leszczynski hopes to encourage her customers to not only experience the Bay from the water but to take time and explore and patron other local businesses and stay for the day. She’s cultivated relationships with Turtle Cove Resort & Marina, Little Sodus Inn, Colloca Winery, and Pleasant Beach, to all be water bike friendly stops. Each establishment has designated docking areas for water bikes to encourage patrons to stop for a bite to eat while on their adventure.
