Allan Lamson Payne, 81

Allan Lamson Payne, 81, of Fulton, died June 30, 2009.

He was the son of the late Floyd and Hazel Payne. Allan was a hard worker who dearly loved his family. He is remembered for his ready sense of humor, his forthrightness and his honesty. He loved Country and Western music and enjoyed playing his guitar and singing his favorite tunes. In his later years he appreciated the many CD recordings that his two sons-in-law regularly sent him. Allan was employed at the Nestle Company in Fulton for 42 years.

He leaves a wife, Beatrice, with whom he was married to for 63 years; two daughters, Linda Payne-Sylvester and her husband Michael and Jean Shortt and her husband Wesley; a sister, Reatha Driscoll; a step-mother, Irma Payne; two step-brothers, Dennis and Larry Payne; three grandsons, Jimmy, Jerry and Scot; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. Burial will be in Fairdale Rural Cemetery, Hannibal.

  1. To Aunt Beatie, Linda and Jean..I am sorry fo ryour loss. Uncle Al was a kind hearted guy. I hope he is at peace now.I think illness and worry about everything just got the best of him.Now he has no worries and he is free.

    Aunt Beatie it will be lonely at times, but now it is time for you to be good to you.You always looked after Uncle Al but that job is finished.Be good to yourself.
