Charlotte Rude Holton Briars, 88

Charlotte Rude Holton Briars, 88, passed away Monday.

A native of Fulton, Mrs. Briars lived in New Woodstock and Cazenovia for over 40 years. She worked as a machine operator at Sealright Company in Fulton, G.E. and S.C.M in Syracuse. She is the widow of Eugene F. Holton, who died in 1967 and Roland A. Briars, who died in 1994.

Surviving are: three sons, Richard J. Holton of Oxford, Massachusetts, E. Michael Holton of Kenmore, Paul E. Taylor of Liverpool; two daughters, Gayle Holton Robertson of Shreveport, Louisiana and Margaret Holton Boyd of Nedrow; a stepson, James D. Briars of Erie, Colorado; three stepdaughters, Carolyn Briars Sterritt of Cazenovia, Elizabeth J. Briars Hart of Cazenovia, Barbara Briars Vittucci of Vienna, Austria; 10 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three nieces, Carlene Knowles Bocchino, Jeanine Knowles Peck, Barbara Rude; a nephew, William Rude.

Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2009 at Mt. Adnah Cemetery, Fulton. There will be no calling hours. Contributions may be made to Mount Adnah Cemetery Association, 706 East Broadway, Fulton, 13069. Arrangements are in the care of Foster Funeral Home, Fulton.

  1. Our sympathy goes out to Charlotte’s children and grandchildren. It has been many years since we have been in touch, But as a child I recall her frequent visits with Aunt Lottie
    and Uncle Will, and saw her often at Aunt Mattie Crahans. She and Margaret helped me
    put together some of the family history. For that I will be forever grateful. She was a
    really happy and thoughtful person and I know she will be missed.
