Edward I. Kingsley Sr., 72

OSWEGO, NY – Edward I. Kingsley Sr., 72, a resident of 41 E. Albany St., passed away Saturday Jan. 9, 2010, at Oswego Hospital.

Mr. Kingsley was born in Oswego, the son of the late Ira and Alona (Gantz) Kingsley.

He was a life resident and a graduate of Oswego High School.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a mason and worked on many local construction projects.

He was a member of Laborers Local #214.

He had also formerly worked as a mechanic at Nick Virgo’s Garage in Oswego.

He was an accomplished stock car driver and raced at many different tracks from 1957 until 1963.

Mr. Kingsley was a communicant of St. Paul’s Church.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jane (Somers) Kingsley of Oswego; two daughters, Karen (Dave) Mattot of Oswego and Mary Jane (Henry) Rowe of Oswego; four sons, Douglas Kingsley of Oswego, Kenneth Kingsley of Oswego, Brian (Kelly) Kingsley of Hannibal and Bruce (Annette) Kingsley of Fort Hood, Texas; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Edward I. Kingsley Jr., who died in 2007; and a brother, Robert Kingsley.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.
