Edward J. Demm

Edward J. Demm, 84, a resident of Co Rt. 7, Town of Oswego, passed away July 20, 2008 at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Louis and Ruth (Pelin) Demm.

He was a WWII U.S. Marine Corps. Veteran.

Ed worked for the Metropolitan Water Department for over 20 years, retiring in 1987.

In 1944, he participated in the liberation of Guam and in 1994; he was invited back by the Government of Guam to celebrate the 50th Anniversary.

He is a life member of the American Legion Post 268, the D.A.V. Post 30 and a member of the V.F.W. Post 5885. He enjoyed woodworking and hunting.

Surviving is his wife, Dorothy (Perry) Demm, two daughters, Judy Tonkin of Beacon, NY; Patty Monroe of Oswego; three grandchildren, Christine Tonkin, James Monroe and Cory Monroe; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and Robert Demm and a sister Mary Mahaney.

Funeral Services will be held 11a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Town of Oswego.

At request of Ed, there will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Friends of Oswego County Hospice, Box 102, Oswego, NY 13126.
