Betty M. Kirkpatrick, 92

PHOENIX, NY – Betty M. Kirkpatrick, 92, of Schroeppel (Pennellville), passed away on Wednesday March 7, 2018, at Massena Memorial Hospital.

She was born to her late parents, Florence Mary (Workman) and Richard William Muskell, in Oswego, NY, on Dec. 8, 1925.

She was employed by Phoenix Central Schools for 15 years in the cafeteria.

Betty was a member of the First Congregational, UCC, Phoenix, the Red Hat Society, Bunco Club, and a volunteer at the Senior Nutrition Center at church.

She was a joy to be around, pleasant to all and sense of humor.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence R. Kirkpatrick, in 1989; her son-in-law, Robert Wanke, in 2012; her sister, Barbara Tilden, in 2006.

Surviving are her daughters, Judith A. Wanke of Massena and Patricia E. Ellsworth of Pennellville; five grandchildren, Amanda (Ellsworth) Gilmore, Kevin Ellsworth, Aaron Wanke, Drew Wanke and Ashley (Wanke) Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Isaac Wanke, Lincoln Johnson and Olan Johnson; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services and calling hours will be held today, Saturday March 10, from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, Phoenix, followed by a funeral at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Karen Marshall officiating.

Spring burial will be in Phoenix Rural Cemetery, 126 Chestnut St.

  1. Very nice lady. She and my Aunt Mary grew up together and were life-long friends. My condolences to Betty’s family and friends.
