OSWEGO, NY – Arthur J. Hillis, 86, a former resident of Davenport N.Y. passed away peacefully on Sunday March 11, 2012, at Oswego Hospital.
He moved to Oswego in October 2011.
Born in Davenport, he was a son of the late George and Mary (Boyes) Hillis.
He graduated from high school in Davenport and had attended Syracuse University.
He was a graduate of Hartwick University.
He was a math teacher at the Treadwell High School.
Mr. Hillis was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy.
Surviving are his daughter, Deborah A. (Andrew) West of Oswego; two sons, John D. and Steven A. Hillis; four sisters, Nellie Dent, Mollie (Marvin) Young, Irene Buel and Joyce (Clifford) Shoemaker; one brother, Ralph (Mabel) Hillis; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is also survived by his wife, Carolyn Hillis, and her two children.
There are no funeral services or calling hours.
Arrangements are in care of the Dowdle Funeral Home.
