Blanche H. Howell, 99

OSWEGO, NY – On Monday March 30, 2015, Blanche H. Howell, 99, a resident of Oswego passed away with her family by her side.

Born in Valley Head, W. Va., she was a daughter of the late Willie and Mary (Daft) Hannah and had attended Tygart Valley schools.

She was employed with the Breneman-Hartshorn Shade Company, Oswego Candy Works and later retired as a cook from SUNY Oswego.

Blanche loved to crochet and also loved to travel and go camping.

Surviving are her three children, Polly Doyle of Oswego, Mary Jo Lawton of Ohio and James William (Betty) Howell of Ohio; a brother, Robert Hannah of Oklahoma; two sisters, Margie Lambert of Ohio and Virginia Kindell of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, James Howell, in 1975; two brothers, Arthur and Kenneth Hannah; and a son-in-law, Raeburn Doyle, in 2000.

Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Saturday from 1 – 3 p.m. with a service to follow the hours.

Spring burial New Haven Cemetery.

  1. Mrs. Blanche Hannah Howell one of the worlds Sweetest Most Kind ladies I have had the Blessing to be around. From day one of meeting her I just knew … and it was very clear that she was to be a most remembered client, but I never knew how much she would touch my heart.. Just like my very own mom she touched my heart so deep… Hannie will be missed by so many. as she has created the most wonderful of families so full of the Love, now is like a sweet seed sown for God in continuance ….
