Gladys passed knowing the love of her daughter, grandsons, brother, nieces and nephews, extended family and dearest friends.

She had a strong faith and devotion to the Lord and is now celebrating eternal peace alongside the love of her life of 52 years, her husband, Robert David Schrader.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Gladys (Baker) Leavens and Lewis Adelbert Leavens.

She attended Oswego schools including Fitzhugh Park and Oswego High School.

Mrs. Schrader served the city of Oswego for more than 30 years, first as a crossing guard at St Paul’s Academy and then as the crossing guard supervisor.

Gladys worked until the very end and she so enjoyed her work and all of her crossing guards that became her friends as well.

She loved a good party and her laugh could be heard for miles.

She was a great cook and her pies were amazing.

We always said she could go in business with those pies.

She and her family always enjoyed playing a good game of cards and later in life she could farkle into the wee hours.

In her younger years, people remember her for her fun loving nature, steady faith, and the love of her family.

The love for her family never changed, as later in his life she took on the role of rearing her special grandsons, Tyler and Kyle.

She always made sure we never went without.

Surviving are her two daughters, Melissa Schrader and Laurie (James) Congdon; four grandchildren, Tyler Perez and Kyle Perez, Tia Daniel of Syracuse and Justin Congdon of Washington; a great-granddaughter, Livvy Rebeor of Syracuse; five brothers, Lewis (Fran) Leavens, Joseph (Sharon) Leavens, Donald Leavens, David Leavens and Edward (Vicky) Leavens; three sisters, Betty (Elton) Seldon, Barbara (Anthony) LaPaglia and Linda (Howard) Straight; sisters-in law, Agnes (Schrader) Neumann and Ann (Schrader) Hewitt; one brother-in-law, John (Mary) Schrader; and many nieces and nephews.
