Julie M. Skorupski, 89

OSWEGO, NY – Julie M. Skorupski, 89, passed away at St. Luke Health Services on Wednesday June 18, 2014.

Born on February 2, 1925, in Oswego to Paul and Anna (Jebas) Skorupski, Julie attended St. Paul’s Academy and graduated from Oswego High School.

She was a life-long resident of Oswego.

She worked at Breneman’s and was later employed with the Oswego City School District until her retirement.

Julie was a member of St. Stephen’s Church and was devoted to her faith.

Since 1954, she volunteered at their annual festival selling raffle tickets.

She was a proud charter member of Hallmark and enthusiast of the Charles Schulz Peanuts characters.

Julie traveled to Utica and Boston to pursue her passion of Polka.

She was also a longtime member of the PLAV.

She will be especially remembered for her kindness and as Aunt Julie to everyone.

Her cute laugh and friendly smile will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her nephew, Richard Henderson; niece, Kathleen Vibbert; great-nephews, Robert Henderson and Robert McCarthy Jr.; and great-nieces, Lisa Williams, Lori Henderson and Lynn Henderson.

Julie was predeceased by two sisters, Rose Henderson and Ida Harmon; two brothers, Leonard and Bolie Skorupski; and one great-niece, Karen Henderson.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 23 at St. Stephen’s Church.

Burial will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3 – 5 p.m. at the Dowdle Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Stephen’s Church, 138 Niagara St., Oswego, NY 13126.
