OSWEGO, NY – Kathryn P. Kranz, 74, a resident of Oswego, passed away on Friday July 25, 2014, at University Hospital in Syracuse, with her loving family by her side.
Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Margaret (Moshier) Gurnsey.
She was a graduate of St. Mary’s School and Oswego Catholic High School, Class of 1958.
She was a bookkeeper at B and D Photo in Oswego.
She was one of the founding members of the Oswego Bunco Club, was past president and a member of the Jaycees Auxiliary and was a member of the Oswego Elks Ladies Auxiliary.
Kathryn was also a den mother, a Brownie Troop leader, a member of the Oswego Redhats, a member of Mah Jongg, a member of the St. Mary’s PTA and enjoyed being involved in senior activities.
Surviving are her loving husband, Donald Kranz with whom she had been together with for 60 years; four children, Donald (Lisa) Kranz of West Virginia, Michael (Pamela) Kranz of Oswego, Susan Burritt of Liverpool and Margaret (Robert) Henderson of Oswego; nine grandchildren, Donald Kranz III, Jessica Gunn, Katrina Kranz, Joshua Kranz, Bradley Kranz, Tyler Kranz, Jennifer LaValle, Brandon Henderson and Eric Henderson; and two great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her stepfather, Morgan “Doc” Breitbeck.
Her family, friends and faith were most important to her.
Kathryn’s friendly smile and outgoing personality will be greatly missed.
A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday at 9 a.m. from St.Mary’s Church.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Dowdle Funeral Home.
