Marie C. Kirshner, 89

OSWEGO, NY – Marie C. Kirshner, 89, a resident of 198 E. Albany St., Oswego, passed away on Monday July 30, 202, at her home.

Born in Carpondale, Pa., she was a daughter of the late William and Victoria (Sonntag) Duggan and had graduated from schools in Pennsylvania.

Marie was the first full-time female deputy dheriff of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Deparment; where she retired after 23 years of service.

She was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Police and was a member of the Altar Rosary of St. Peter’s Church.

Survivng are her sister, Margaret Bender of Buffalo.

She was also a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raymon, in 1984.

Funeral services will be held on Thrusday at 10 a.m. from St.Peter’s Church.

Burial will be in St.Peter’s Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.

  1. We just learned of Marie’s passing today….please accept our condolences. My aunt, Frances Barry, was a very good friend of Marie’s and our whole family thought a lot of Marie. She was a terrific lady and we know she will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time.
