Peter L. LaFave, 73

OSWEGO, NY – Peter L. LaFave, 73, a resident of the Oswego area passed away on Friday May 30, 2014, in Rome NY.

Born in Scriba, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Alice (Pepper) LaFave and had attended local schools.

Mr. LaFave was a member of Carpenters’ Local #747 for more than 30 years.

He was a member of the Scriba Fire Department for many years and he was helping people stay the course of soberity for the last 31 years as a member of AA.

He was well-known as the “Hog Man” at the Oswego Speedway where he was a push truck driver for more than 30 years.

Surviving are his loving wife, the former Sherrie Drake; eight children, Bonnie Carpenter of Oswego, Lisa (David) Yerdon of Oswego, Wendy LeRoy of Phoenix, Peter LaFave of Fulton, Theodore (Pearl) LaFave of Salt Lick, Kentucky, Jennie (Gary) Anderson of Nesconset, NY, Billie Jean (Ian) Beaver of Cameron, NC, and Michael LaFave of Liverpool; a sister, Jean Traux of Oswego; 25 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his sister, Alberta Jones; and a brother, Daniel LaFave.

He will be remembered as a wonderful husband and father and a dear friend who will be missed by many.
