Richard Neal Geers Sheridan, 92

OSWEGO, NY – Richard Neal Geers Sheridan, 92, a resident of Scriba, passed away on Saturday February 8, 2014, at Oswego Hospital.

Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late Henry Geers and Lily Lane and was a graduate of Oswego High School.

He retired from Papertronics in 1982 after many years of service.

Mr. Sheridan was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Company D.

He was a lifetime member of the Oswego Sportsman Club #35.

Richard was known as a handyman who enjoyed working on small projects.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Penny Bosma; three sons, Richard (Cheryl) Sheridan of Palermo, Allen (Joyce) Sheridan of Hannibal and Peter (Patty) Alkema of Florida; two daughters, Ria (Tim) May of Scriba and Wilma Alkema of Oswego; a sister, Marie Henderson of Oswego; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was predeceased by his brother, Jack Sheridan, in 2013.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

There are no calling hours.

Spring burial will be in Peck’s Cemetery.

  1. Penny and family. Sorry for your loss . I remember as a child when you and him visited my grandparents Nonie and Bill Sweeting. He was a loving caring individual and will be missed dearly.
