Richard W. Askew, 67

OSWEGO, NY – Richard W. Askew, 67, a resident of the Oswego area passed away on Wednesday July 19, 2017, at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.

Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late Richard E. and Marjorie V. (Woods) Askew and was a graduate of Oswego Catholic High School, Class of 1967.

Mr. Askew was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1969-1974.

He was stationed at the FITRON 121 Naval Air Station in Miramar, Calif., from 1969-1971.

He was a former member of the Butterfly Marsh Wildlife Association and Ducks Unlimited.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching, bowling and gardening.

Surviving are two daughters, Kristin White and Sarah Askew; two sisters, Suzanne Ringer and Julie Osborn; a brother, Mark Askew; and his girlfriend, Brenda Beacraft.

Funeral services are private and at the convenience of the family.

There are no calling hours.

Arrangements are in care of the Dowdle Funeral Home.

  1. Sorry to hear about Rick.I was the person who was for over a year going grocery shopping for him.I wondered why I hadn’t heard from him in awhile.He was a very nice man.We had some great conversations !! Rest in Peace Rick,you will be missed.
