Rose C. Barsi

OSWEGO, NY – Rose C. Barsi, 95, a resident of 91 Hamilton St., passed away on Thursday Dec. 9, 2010, at Oswego Hospital surrounded by her family.

Affectionately known as “Cookie,” she was born in Frankfort, NY and was the daughter of the late Philip and Catherine (Oriole) Cooker.

She was a graduate of Frankfort High School, attended the State University of Cortland and was a graduate of the Father Baker’s Pediatric School of Nursing in Lakawanna NY.

Rose was employed as a pediatric nurse at the Bronx Hospital.

Mrs. Barsi was one of the original den mothers for Pack #888 which started at Riley School in the 1950s.

She was a volunteer for the cancer society in the
1950s.

Rose was a member of the St. Anne’s Society, a CCD teacher and performed for more than 30 years with the choir at St. Joseph’s Church.

She was a life member of the Third Order of Carmelites.

Surviving are two sons, Charles J. Barsi and Robert P. Barsi both of Oswego; a grandson, Anthony (Toni) Barsi of Philadelphia; a great-granddaughter, Aurelia Barsi; a niece, Alma Daley; and a sister-in-law, Rose Cooker.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles J. Barsi Sr., in 1953; three sisters, Jessie Daley, Mary Cooker and Theresa Cooker; and four brothers, Frank Cooker, George Cooker, Sidney Cooker and James Cooker.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-5 p.m.
