Rosemarie Penny Schrader, 69

OSWEGO, NY – Rosemarie Penny Schrader, 69, passed away on Tuesday March 3, 2015, at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital in Syracuse.

Penny was born in Milwaukee, Wisc., on February 16, 1946, the daughter of Donald
and Gertrude Sowards.

She graduated from the Deaconess School of Nursing in Milwaukee and later earned
her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the State University of New York College at Oswego.

Penny is survived by her husband of 49 years, Paul Joseph Schrader.

Penny and Paul settled in Oswego, Paul’s hometown, in 1966 and began their life together.

Penny worked at Oswego Hospital for 20 years and for Oswego County until she
retired.

Penny loved to travel and she and Paul travelled the world together for many years.

She was an avid reader, loved to cook and bake, loved growing flowers and herbs, loved to knit and was an excellent seamstress.

She volunteered for many educational programs at St. Paul’s Church over the years and was a strong advocate for recycling, protecting our planet and helping others.

She also enjoyed her outings to the casinos with her sisters and many friends.

Penny had many, many, many friends.

Penny was a very active and beloved member of the Oswego Moose Club.

She held several officer chairs and was honored with Green Cap status by The Women of the Moose.

She was also honored with two degrees: The Academy of Friendship and The College of Regents.

Penny is survived by her children, Andrea of Plymouth, Mass., and Matthew and
Jennifer of Elbridge.

She is the grandmother of Jacob of Syracuse and Zachary of Elbridge.

Penny is also survived by her sisters and brothers: Pat and Don Straka of Arizona,
Donna and Henry Belinski of Colorado, Tom and Janet Sowards of Washington,
Jackie and Ronnie Babcock of Oswego, Connie and Bill of Alaska, Michael of Oswego,
Pam and Huck of Florida and Vickie and Scott of Ontario.

Penny was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Gertrude and Joseph and Constance Schrader of Oswego.

Calling hours will be held 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Dowdle Funeral Home, 154 E.
Fourth St.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church, 50 E. Mohawk St.
