Teresa A. Reedy

OSWEGO, NY – Teresa A. Reedy, born, Aug. 13, 1938, and who was a resident of 174 E. Seneca St., passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Friday Nov. 26, 2010, at University Hospital in Syracuse.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Alice (Donahue) Griggs and was a graduate of St. Mary’s School and Oswego High School.

She was a secretary at Eben Poland Law Firm.

After the arrival of children she devoted her time as a loving wife and mother.

She enjoyed gardening, her flowers and traveling.

Teresa was an active member in the community including past president of the Oswego Elks Ladies Auxiliary, former member of the PTA at Fitzhugh Park Elementary School and was the treasurer of the Marching Band Parents Association.

Teresa worked the election polls and was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Paul’s Church.

She was active with her husband, Bill, in many Elk activities. Her smiling face could always be seen at the take-out window of the annual Friday night fish dinners.

She surrounded herself with family and friends and enjoyed monthly luncheons with her lifelong friends from St. Mary’s School, who were affectionately known as The Lunch Bunch.

Surviving are her husband of 52 years, William Reedy; six children, Linda (Jamie) Gehan of Oswego, William (Lisa) Reedy Jr. of Cicero, Christine (Scott) Stark of Zeeland Mich., Cathleen (Bill) McSweeney of Scriba, Mary (Chris) Wagner of Charlotte NC and Brian (Chad Crutchfield) Reedy of Raleigh NC; and 11 grandchildren, Audra and James Gehan, Brianna and Will Reedy, Emily and Haley Stark, Billy, Keeghan, Mollie and Maggie McSweeney and Grace Wagner.

Also surviving are Bette Griggs, Betty and Ed Budke, Joan Reidy, Dave and Pat Reidy, MaryLue and Butch Ferguson; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Dowdle Funeral Home, 154 E. Fourth St., Oswego.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from St. Paul’s Church, Oswego.

Interment will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery and will be held at the convenience of the family.
