Thomas G. Coffey Jr., 66

OSWEGO, NY – Thomas G. Coffey Jr., 66, a resident of Oswego passed away on  Saturday November 28, 2015, at the Upstate Medical University in Syracuse.

Born in Fort Dix, NJ, he was a son of the late Thomas and Katherine (Metcalf) Coffey.

He was a graduate of Oswego High School and SUNY Oswego.

He retired from the James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant as a lead systems analyst after 31 years of service.

He was the leader of Boy Scouts Troop #891 for almost ten years.

He was an avid reader and bird watcher.

He enjoyed Astronomy and Microbiology.

Thomas was an avid sports fan with British Soccer being one of his favorites.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years, the former, Terry Fosco; a daughter, Kathleen (James) Monahan of Stevensville, Md.; a son, Patrick (Karen) Coffey of Douglasville, Pa.; a grandson, Liam Monahan; a sister, JoAnne (Joseph) Kapuscinski of Oswego; three brothers, Michael (Mary) Coffey, Matthew Coffey and Peter (Clionna) Coffey all of Oswego; and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother Mark in 1973.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Dowdle Funeral Home.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 – 7 p.m.

  1. Terry, Patrick and Kathleen,
    I am so sorry for the loss of your husband and father. He was a great and wonderful man. I really cared for him. He taught me much. He was my supervisor at Fitz. I am glad that he came into my life. He is an inspiration. My prayers are with your family. RIP Tom.
