Timothy T. Comerford, 62

OSWEGO, NY – Timothy T. Comerford, 62, a resident of 46 Twin Orchards Drive passed away on Wednesday Feb. 9, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late James “Diney” and Kathleen (Horan) Comerford and graduated from Oswego Catholic High School, class of 1965.

He retired from Niagara Mohawk after more than 30 years of service.

Mr. Comerford was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1968-1972.

In the Navy, he served as a Corpsman with the Marines Hotel 2/7 in Viet Nam from 1969-1970.

He was a lifetime member of the Viet Nam Vets of America and was a member of the VFW for more than 40 years.

In 1966 he joined the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Over the years, he held many division and state offices before becoming the AOH New York State President from 1999-2001.

Tim was a member of the Fallbrook Club and was a member of the Oswego Yacht Club since 1995, most recently holding the office of Recording Secretary.

Surviving are his wife of 25 years, the former Susan Zan Darke; a daughter, Ellen (David) Tonkin of Florida; a son, Kevin (Karis McFarlane) Comerford of California; a brother, Patrick Comerford of Oswego; two sisters, Conny Fitzgerald of Florida and Dolly Pierson of Texas; and two grandchildren, Zachary and Ava.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church.

There are no calling hours.

Entombment will be in All Saint’s Mausoleum.

  2. We are very sorry to hear of Tim’s passing. We will always have great memories of Tim at the Oswego Yacht Club. He will be missed.

  3. We didn’t know Tim, but his sister Dolly is the best friend a person could have. The Townsend family is so sad for you. Lots of love coming from Texas.

Life has had its way with us all that causes us to lose contact, but wonderful memories keep us close. Tim happily joins hands in heaven with Diney and Kate, Orlie and Mabel, Freddie and Pierre, and all those who have passed through Tim’s life as he journeyed to heaven.     So sorry to hear of Tim’s death. He will be very missed and by so many people. Our Andy didn’t really know Tim, but I am sure that they are both enjoying heaven very much, just as they lived life. You will be in our prayers.
