Wilbur F. Laws, 86

OSWEGO, NY – Wilbur F. Laws, 86, a resident of County Route 8, passed away on Saturday June 15, 2013, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Born in Fulton, he was the son of the late Leon and Rose (Warren) Laws and had attended Oswego schools.

He was employed with the S and D Motor Lines and the Highway Express in Fulton, M and M Transportation in Syracuse and later retired from Lakeshore Transportation in Oswego.

He was a member of the NRA and the Teamsters Local #317.

Wilbur enjoyed spending time on his farmland especially training and showing his Quarter Horses.

Mr. Laws was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Marine Corps and also was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the United States Air Force.

Surviving are his son Francis (Duffy) Laws of Baltimore; two daughters, Jeanette (John) DeSantis of Oswego and Heather Ingham of East Syracuse; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Penny Laws, in 1997; two brothers, Leon and Chuck Laws; and four sisters, Juanita Hall, Alma Malone, Betty Malone and Rose “Babe” Whilhemi.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Minetto.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Friday from 4-7 p.m.

  1. i knew Leon Laws quite well threw the horses–in fact i bet few no that the golden sun buses are named for “golden sun” Leons golden palimino trick horse–Leon also took this horse to washington an he walked up the capitol steps. just a little history am very sorry for your loss

  2. I grew up in Granby Center and was neighbors of Mr. Laws and I played with their children.. I read this just today on the computer and needed to send sympathies to the family.. We are sorry, and sadden by the news of Mr. Laws passing. Our heartfelt sympathies goes out to the family . We are so sorry for your loss.
