FULTON, NY – Anthony Michael Louise Jr., 75, of Fulton, died Monday December 9, 2013, at his home, Towpath Towers, Fulton.
He was born February 2, 1938, in Fulton, first of four sons of Anthony M. and Helen (Payne) Louise.
He was educated in Fulton schools before joining the workforce.
Tony spent most of his life as a machinist in Syracuse and had numerous part-time jobs while living in Florida.
His most favorite was as a custodian at a television station.
On June 3, 1961, Tony married his next door neighbor, Carolyn Cafarelli.
They and their two daughters lived in Syracuse and Jack’s Reef until the mid-1980s, when Tony and Carol relocated to Florida.
The very definition of opposites attract, they created a loving, fun and always interesting marriage that lasted until Carol’s death in November 2002.
In May 2009, Tony did what he said he never would do. He came back to Central New York winters and moved into Towpath Towers in Fulton.
He enjoyed being near family and found that the winters were not so bad from his apartment on the ninth floor.
Tony liked a cold beer, or two; playing pool with his fellow Towpath pool sharks Clive, Jerry and Bob; listening to country music, especially Johnny Cash; watching The Big Bang Theory; bragging about his grandchildren Mary Kate and Anthony; playing with his canine buddy Fred and just about any gathering that promised a good time.
After most of his chemo treatments for his lung cancer diagnosed in April 2012, he enjoyed going out to lunch at his favorite spots of Heid’s, Little Gem Diner and the Dinosaur Barbecue.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Louise-Gannon and her husband, Steve, and their children, Mary Kate and Anthony; his daughter, Theresa Holley and her daughter, Courtney; two brothers, Michael and Penny Louise of Liverpool and their family, and John Louise of Florida and his family; two sisters-in-law, Linda Louise of Syracuse and her family, and Marletta Louise of Florida; in-laws, Don and Betty Cafarelli of Tully; cousins; nieces and nephews, especially Allan Louise of Liverpool and Chris Louise of Boston; two spoiled granddogs, Fred and Lucy; and his many friends made over the years, especially those who made Towpath Towers such fun for him.
Along with his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Allan Louise; and a son-in-law, Frank Holley.
Tony was able to spend his last weeks in his own home thanks to the special services of Oswego County Hospice and Patricia Jean ‘Susy’ Irland, who became his caretaker for the last five and a half months.
A celebration of life party is scheduled for 1 p.m., Sunday, December 29, at the Blue Moon Grill’s, Under the Moon, 122 Cayuga St., Fulton, for Tony’s family and friends to tell stories, raise a toast and enjoy what he enjoyed most, which is being together with people who are important to you.
