Augusta “Gussie” Sereno, 86, of Fulton died Friday at Oswego Hospital after a sudden illness.

She had worked as a lunch aide for the Fulton Junior High School lunch program and was affectionately known by the students as “Grandma” and previously worked at Sealright Company in Fulton.

Gussie was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church and member of Catholic Daughters of America, Court Pere LeMoyne #833.

She was the daughter of Sisto and Rita Cardinali and was predeceased by a sister, Anna Cardinali and husband, Peter S. Sereno.

Surviving are her two sons, David (Joy) Sereno of Cave Creek, AZ and Peter (Cathy) Sereno of Fulton; three grandchildren, Matthew, Anthony and Paige Sereno; sisters, Ermida (John) Procopio, Flora (Robert) Callen and Sarah Fruce all of Fulton; brother, Ralph (Barbara) Cardinali of Wampsville; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours are 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday with services to follow at 6:15 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. A burial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fulton.

  2. I remember Gussie well. She was friendly, warm and a good friend to everybody at the Junior High. She will be missed.

    Sorry to read of your mothers passing…I know she’ll be missed by so many. I remember my kids talking about “Grandma” when they spoke of the lunch lady…my prayers are with your family.
