Charles E. Sweet, 90 of Otego, formerly of Fulton, died Thursday April 29, 2010 at home.

Born December 27, 1929 in Syracuse he was the son of the late Charles Stanley and Jennie Aline (May) Sweet. A native and long time resident of the Fulton – Oswego area Charles recently moved to Otego to be closer to family.

Charles was an Army veteran serving during WWII where he received multiple medals, including the Purple Heart, the Medal of Honor, the Bronze Star and the Army Good Conduct Medal. Charles was a self employed carpenter for many years. He was a member of the Dexterville Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Oswego Rifle Club. Charles enjoyed music and spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and was a gifted guitar player.

He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Norma A. Sweet who died November 2, 2000.

Surviving; four children, Karol L. Woolson, Frederick L. Sweet, Barbara J. Claxton and Kathryn A. Kinney; a brother, John; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. Burial will be at Fairdale Rural Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Fulton VFW Post 569.
