Dale R. Shortslef, 61

HANNIBAL, NY – Dale R. Shortslef, 61, of Oswego, died unexpectedly Sunday August 19, 2012, at Oswego Hospital.

Born in Oswego, Dale had lived in Sterling prior to moving to Oswego in 1975.

Dale retired from Novelis in 2007 as a mill operator after 36 years of service.

After retirement Dale returned to work as a groundskeeper at the Oswego Country Club in Oswego.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, cooking and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his mother, Norma J. Shortslef, who died April 21, 2009.

Surviving: three children, Andrea Shortslef, James Shortslef and Kristy Shortslef; four grandchildren, Camryn, Logan, Zachary and Hannah; father, Ward Shortslef; a brother, Gary Shortslef; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday 10 a.m.  at Foster Funeral Home, Hannibal.

Burial will be at Springbrook Cemetery, Sterling.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal.

  1. May you rest in peace Dale….I’m glad you didn’t suffer…taken to soon…it wasn’t your time to go yet…I’m so sorry for your families loss…you were a very hard working man and always willing to help someone in need….and had a very giving soul…to all who had the pleasure of knowing you..
