David Anthony Fontecchio, 72

FULTON, NY – David Anthony Fontecchio, 72, of Fulton, passed away peacefully from his battle of esophagus cancer on Sunday December 31, 2017.

David’s grandparents had immigrated from Italy to the United States where David was born in Brooklyn on November 4, 1945, to the late Anthony and Suzanne Fontecchio.

David’s parents raised him and his sister, Dianne Rysanek, in Queens.

As a young man, David was an accomplished high board diver, at one time was practicing for the Olympics.

He was also a life guard, swimmer and weight lifter.

David served in the Army and the Army Reserves for five years.

David worked for Barney’s of New York as a clothing buyer, owned service and gas stations as well as a catering hall and discos.

David worked in many nuclear plants including NMP 2 and the Palaverty in Arizona before retiring as a pipe steamfitter.

He was an active member of Local 777 CT.

David had worked for Fred Raynor Ford Truck Town in Fulton and also retired from the The Fulton Housing Authority as the director.

David was a member of the Futon City Republican committee and the Oswego County Republican committee for more than 30 years.

In later years of life, David learned and loved golf and became an avid player.

He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Dianne.

David is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Mona Fontecchio of Fulton; two daughters, Porscha (Eddie) Brown of Fulton and Tiffany (Alan) Burleigh of Fulton; nephews, Raymond (Paulette) Rysanek of Sprinfield, Fla., and Bill (Alice) Belmonte of Wading River, NY; grandchildren, Coleman (Allison) Smith of Scriba and Kayla Smith of Fulton; great-granddaughter, Sanyia Smith; along with several cousins and family members.

All services will be held privately at a later date.

Foster Funeral Home, Fulton, has care of the arrangements.

David had a positive impact on everyone he met and may never know how many people’s lives he touched.

His family feels blessed for having him in their lives, loves him deeply and will miss him every day.
