Donald F. Platt, 74

FULTON, NY – Donald F. “Don” Platt, 74, of Phoenix, NY, formerly of Fulton, passed away on Monday October 19, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse.

Don worked as the vice president of the Laborers’ Local Union 214 until his retirement.

Don was an ardent golfer and golf enthusiast, as well as an avid Syracuse University sports fan.

He had a love for nature, especially the geese and deer that would frequent his back yard.

All who knew Don loved him and cherished his passion and zest for life.

He will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving father, caring brother, wonderful uncle, loyal friend and devoted husband to his high school sweetheart and wife of more than 50 years, Peggy.

Don joins in heaven his beloved son, Donald “Donnie” Jr.; his parents, Francis and Dorothy Smith Platt; and uncle, Harold Platt.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Lizak Platt; sisters, Francine (Joseph) Latino of Fulton and Mary Ann (Thomas) Henry of Omaha, Neb.; godchildren, Dee, Jada, Markell and Q; several niece, nephews and great-nieces; Florida relatives, Dyann (David) Kutab, CiCi Santora and Lisa Lizak; and longtime friends, Gerry Holden, John Turner, Mark and Jaden Allen, Pete and Lori Ives, Bonnie Travet, Cathy and Peter Bock, Jim Resstuci, Doc Manitta and Jim Meyers, for his special kindness.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to noon with a service to follow at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.

Burial will be private.

  1. HAVING BEEN A FELLOW WORKER W/DON AT LOCAL 214 WELFARE & PENSION OFFICE, I WAS SADDENED BY HIS PASSING, HE WAS ALWAYS A GENTLEMEN. I KNOW HE WILL BE MISSED BY MANY. RIP DON ??

  2. I was saddened to hear of Mr Platts passing. Mine and my families condolences go out to the family. I knew Mr Platt because his wife was my teacher at one time. He will be missed by everyone who knew him and loved him. RIP Mr Platt.
