Douglas R. McFarland

FULTON – Douglas R. McFarland, 77, of Fulton, passed away after an extended illness on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at the Syracuse VA Medical Center.

He was born in 1943, in Oswego, a son to the late Ross and Athol Gardner McFarland. Doug was a graduate from Red Creek Central School District in 1961. From 1964 to 1966, he served in the U.S. Army as a SP5 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Doug then retired from P & C Foods, Co., in Syracuse in 2004 after 43 years of service. In his retirement time Doug enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and traveling, especially his trip to Alaska to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary with his wife, Diane.

Doug was predeceased by his brother, Duane McFarland.

He will be greatly missed and forever loved by his wife of 53 years, Diane Hall McFarland; three children, Marcia (Matthew) Moshier of Oswego, Margie (Jamie) Diak of Fulton and Jason (Sherri) McFarland of North Carolina; six grandchildren, Meredith Moshier, Allison Moshier, Jonathan Diak, Lauren Diak, Kelsea McFarland and McKenna McFarland; one brother, Donald (Teresa) McFarland of Hannibal; one sister, Lorinda O’Connor of Hannibal as well as several nieces and nephews.

All services will be held privately. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oswego. Foster Funeral Home, Fulton, has care of arrangements.
