Edna Verdi Scardella, 84

HANNIBAL, NY – Edna Verdi Scardella, 84, of Syracuse, formerly of Fulton, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at Francis House in Syracuse.

Born in Fulton, she attended the North Volney District 4 One-Room School and was a 1948 graduate of Fulton High School.

Edna was a communicant of The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Fulton, where she and her husband were bingo captains.

She was a former officer of the Columbiettes Auxiliary and former member of a women’s bowling league.

Edna was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing.

She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Antoinette Belfiore Verdi; her brother, Angelo Verdi; and her husband, Santo T. Scardella.

Surviving are three sons: Dr. Anthony (Susan) Scardella of Princeton Junction, NJ and children, Lauren, David and Amy; Rev. Joseph E. Scardella of Baldwinsville and John (Michele) Scardella of Coraopolis, Pa., and sons, Thomas and Brian; several nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, at Holy Trinity Church, corner of Rochester and South Third streets in Fulton with burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fulton.

Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Francis House for its compassionate care.

  2. To Father Scardella and his family. My deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers, I worked many activities at Immaculate Conception/ Holy Trinity Church with Edna. She was always a joy to be around. I am sure there’s a special place in heaven for her. May she rest in peace.
