Gerald ‘Jake’ Ballard, 72

FULTON, NY –     Gerald “Jake” Ballard, 72, of Fulton, passed away on Monday February 1, 2016, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Jake had worked as bar manager at the Fulton Polish Home in Fulton for many years, he also worked as a greeter at Walmart in Fulton.

He was an avid enthusiast for SU sports, the Cleveland Browns football team and solving crossword puzzles.

Jake, being a very social person, always enjoyed the company of others.

He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Fairy Stauring Ballard; and his sister, Janet Allen.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Jean Crisafulli Ballard of Fulton; their daughter, Johanna (Jeffrey) Bock of Cicero; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Rosalie and Alayna Bock of Cicero; two brothers, Donald (Betty) Ballard Jr. of Fulton and Robert (Barbara) Ballard of New Bern, NC; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton, with services 10 a.m. Friday also at the funeral home.

A burial service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton Pop Warner Football Program, c/o Teryl Sullivan, Treasurer, 10 Litwak St., Fulton, NY 13069.

  1. I am very sad to hear of Jake’s passing. He was a great person and I always thought of him as a good friend. We shared many good memories when he was working at Walmart, he will be missed by all who knew him. I will keep him and his family all in my prayers.

  2. Jake will always be remembered for his smile that he always had on his face and his charisma and charm he was a great guy and we will all miss him. RIP Jake Ballard your memory will always be with me.

    Jim and I are so very sorry for family’s loss. The picture in the paper is how we all will remember “Jake”. That smile of his always made my heart smile, whether it was running into him somewhere in the community or at Walmart. I hope you will find peace in the memories you all have of this fine man, husband, father and grandfather. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.

  5. Jake was one of the people that I remember the most from my High School Days. He was always fun, had a big smile and gave out lots of bear hugs. He could always brighten up a day.
    I am very sorry for his family’s loss, he was very special.

  6. I have not been in Fulton since graduating from FHS in Jake’s class, but. I remember him fondly. He would always connect in a positive, affectionate way. He was fun-loving, warm and friendly. Memorable. I send my condolences to his family.
